About Dr. B.R. Ambedkar
Dr. Ambedkar was born on 14the April 1891 in Mhow, a Military cantonment to an army officer.
He went on to achieve degrees in Economics from Mumbai University and then a Ph.D. from Columbia University, also in Economics. He enrolled in the London School of Economics. He also submitted his thesis in many subjects including sociology.
He was opposed to the caste system and started a movement to protest untouchability. In 1932 the Poona Pact was signed which reserved seats for the depressed classes in the legislature under a unified electorate.
He also was instrumental in the formation of RBI being an accomplished economist.
He chaired the Constitutional Drafting Committee from 29th August 1947 to 26th November 1949 when the Constituent Assembly accepted the Draft.
The Constitution Of India was adopted on 26th January 1950. This is a document which comprehensively spells out the rights and duties of all people over 448 articles
Ambedkar and Buddhism
Ambedkar was drawn towards Buddhism, especially after 1950 and converted after that and founded the Bharatiya Bauddha Mahasabha in 1955.
